NY Writers Coalition is hosting the 10th Annual Fort Greene Park Summer Literary Festival next weekend, 8/23, at 2pm.
The day will feature young writers (6-18 year olds) reading alongside an electrifying lineup of Brooklyn-based writers, headlined by Sapphire (author of PUSH, which was the basis of the Academy Awards winning film Precious).
“[NYWC] is doing the great work of giving young people a voice through writing and celebrating literature in the most accessible and democratic of ways: with a free outdoor festival,” says Jessica Stockton-Bagnulo, co-owner of Greenlight Bookstore. There will be an after festival get together at Greenlight Bookstore (686 Fulton Street) at 4:30pm!
This event is free, free, FREE! Come listen to new voices and established voices in the literary world. A few of our past NYC Scholastic Award winners will be there, as will new NYC Affiliate, Corianna Moffatt — come say hi!
The festival will take place at the Prison Ship Martyrs Monument in Fort Greene Park, Brooklyn, NY 11201
(Rain space: BRIC Media House Ballroom at 647 Fulton Street)
