Teen Poet Open Mic Tomorrow (8/5) at Nuyorican Poets Cafe

Teen Open Mic

Calling all NYC teen poets: READ.WRITE.NOW!

Writopia Lab in NYC is hosting an open mic for teen poets at the legendary Nuyorican Poets Café tomorrow evening (August 5th) from 6:30pm – 8:30pm.

This is a wonderful opportunity to try out that new poem you’ve been working on this summer, while working the same stage graced by the likes of Ntozake Shange, Sandra Maria Esteves, Edwin Torres, and many, many more!  Bring your friends, bring your family, and bring a poem or two to share.  Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for children under 18, and FREE for all performers.  Please RSVP with Danielle at Danielle@Writopialab.org to secure a spot.

Need a little inspiration?  Take a look at Scholastic Art & Writing Awards 2014 Portfolio Silver Medalist, Michal Leibowitz, reciting her poem “To Voltaire From A Jew” at last year’s open mic.
