No Innocence

As your wisdom increases
your innocence decreases
and the world is a much more
melancholy
place.
The curtain rises,
and the actors bow
figures of a childhood
gone.
Applaud them
for without their costumes
they are nothing
but ideas
believed by the more innocent.
You are no longer the child
sweet and dear
but now frustrated
confused
and angry at the world
for having disguised its flaws
and morphing into
a place of more
conflict,
not peace
anger,
nor forgiveness
and hatred
not love.
